Our story

A brother, a sister, and a better cup.

Satori is run by two of us — Melissa and Mason. We started it for a simple reason: we couldn't find matcha in Dubai that tasted the way it does at the source. So we went to the source.

Whisking ceremonial matcha in a stone bowl
Chapter one

It started with a crash.

Four coffees a day. Wired mornings, anxious afternoons, the 3pm slump — Melissa knew the cycle by heart. Then, on a trip to Japan, someone handed her a bowl of properly made matcha.

Calm and switched on at the same time. No jitters. No crash. The kind of clear-headed energy that makes you wonder what you've been drinking all these years. That feeling has a name in Zen — satori, a sudden awakening. We named the company after it.

Shade-grown tea fields in Uji, Japan
Chapter two

So we went to the source.

Most matcha changes hands a dozen times before it reaches a shelf. Ours doesn't. We travelled to Uji, sat with the families who have grown shade-leaf tea for generations, and chose our harvest ourselves.

  •  Single estate — one farm, one family, no blending
  •  First harvest — the sweetest, most delicate spring leaves
  •  Stone-milled — ground slowly to protect colour and aroma
“We'd rather make 300 perfect tins than 3,000 average ones.”

The Satori matcha ritual, whisked fresh
Chapter three

Why only 300 tins.

Matcha is fresh produce. It fades from the moment it's milled — which is why we import small batches, seal them at origin, and ship from Dubai the day you order. When a batch is gone, it's gone until the next harvest.

It's a slower way to run a company. It's also the only way the cup in your hand tastes like the one that started all this.

What we stand by

Small promises, kept every batch.

Single estate

Every tin traces to one family farm in Uji — never blended, never brokered.

First harvest

Spring leaves only, shade-grown for three weeks for depth and umami.

Stone-milled

Granite mills, slow revolutions — heat is the enemy of flavour.
